In Person Therapy In South Pasadena

Living room with gray sofa, colorful cushions, large windows with blinds, wooden sideboard, potted plant, table lamp, and small clock.

All of our therapists offer in person therapy in a private, comfortable office in South Pasadena.

We believe that there’s something special about in person therapy: something about the feeling of returning to a familiar, safe space, or the feeling of pouring a cup of tea and sitting in the waiting room, gathering your thoughts. Something about the feeling of landing on a familiar couch and saying hello to your heart. Something about the knowledge that you can leave some hard feelings on that couch, and that the exploration will be there for you when you come back next week.

That’s why we returned to the office after going virtual for a while during the pandemic. For us, it’s important to be able to offer the nurturance and containment that comes with a literal safe space and the irreplaceable experience of being in a room with someone who wants to understand you.

You can do both

All that being said, there are often reasons why virtual therapy might work better sometimes. Our clients are welcome to switch back and forth between in person and virtual therapy as long as it works with your therapists’s in office schedule.

Are there Benefits to in person therapy?

While both virtual therapy and in person therapy have their benefits, there are some experiences that are specific to in person therapy.

For one thing, your therapist is able to see your whole body, which means that we can learn with you about your experience through exploration of your posture and body language. For clients who are interested in somatic therapy, this can be especially beneficial.

Additionally, we have the ability to interact differently. Your therapist can hand you a tissue or a grounding object. You can use one of our blankets. We can sit on the floor together to look at a DBT skill or draw.

Finally, it is a lot harder to multitask when you are in the room with your therapist. At home, other demands on your attention can remain powerful and it can be harder to set aside the tasks of daily living for an experience of slowing down for deep exploration and healing.

Our Therapy OFfice

We offer in person therapy in our discreet, comfortable office in South Pasadena. Our location is right at the border with Pasadena, so if you are looking for in person therapy in Pasadena, we are easy to get to. We are also right up the 110 from Highland Park and Echo Park, where many of our clients live.

We have a gender neutral bathroom and offer tea and water.

Also, for what it’s worth, we are Angelinos who believe that therapy shouldn’t add stress to your life, so we chose a spot with easy, free, abundant parking either on the street or in the lot across the street from us.

A note about accessibility

Our office is located upstairs in a historic craftsman, and the only way to get to it is up a flight of stairs. Clients who are not comfortable or able to walk up a flight of stairs are better served by using our virtual services.
